Homecoming Neighborhood Party
Wilsonville High School’s annual Homecoming parade and march through Meadows Loop has become a yearly staple and a nostalgic reminder that despite our growth we still live in a close-knit community. Every year since WHS’ inception in 1995 students partake in a friendly class competition. Which class has built the best float? Half-time at the 7 pm football game will crown the ultimate winner.
This year Larisa & Ben Byers (white house on corner of Meadows Loop and Glenwood Drive) are carrying on the tradition of previous owners and have graciously offered to host our pre-Homecoming party. The Byers family will provide homemade chili and have tables set-up in their garage for neighbors to bring anything they’d like to share (pizza, dessert, chips, etc). Just be sure to RSVP by October 10th so they have enough chili on hand!
Following a decades long tradition, floats carrying Wilsonville High students will depart the main high school parking lot at 5 pm. They will then cross Wilsonville Road and wind through our neighborhood, likely showering onlookers with candy from their decorated trailers. A firetruck and police car with sirens and lights will likely be leading the contingent.
Savvy youngsters will bring bags to load up on trailer-tossed candy — a pre-Halloween trial run some say.
Rain or shine, most parade-goers sport the Wildcat colors of navy, white or silver and are welcome to walk over to the football stadium afterward to root on our hometown team.
